Book Redesign

For my Publication Design class, I redesigned The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. My goal was to reflect the edgy, mysterious tone of the story and its protagonist, Lisbeth Salander, by leaning into a cybersigilism aesthetic.

I created a custom typeface for the cover inspired by sharp motifs and incorporated sketchy illustrations of the characters into the table of contents and select chapter pages. For the splash page, I designed a stylized family tree of the Vanger family using cybersigilism elements. I also included cyber tattoo motifs throughout the layout to echo both the book's title and Lisbeth’s punk identity.

This project was built using InDesign, Illustrator, and some Photoshop. One of the main challenges was fitting the extensive table of contents on a single page while maintaining legibility and style, but the final design captured the gritty, unconventional energy I was aiming for.
